Logan-Rogersville Elementary March 2017

Animal Wax Museum

Two second grade classrooms hosted parents and other guests for an animal wax museum. Each student researched an animal, created a poster with information about their animal, prepared a short oral presentation to share and fashioned a costume to demonstrate what their animal looks like. All this came together for visitors at the animal wax museum. Each student stood in costume in front of their poster. As guests stopped by to look at the poster, there were able to push a "button" on the poster. When the button was pressed the animal came to life and gave a short oral presentation. The work the students put into this was quite impressive! Four of these students will be presenting their animal research at the March 21st school board meeting.

Third Grade Music Program

The third graders shared their musical talents with guests at their annual music program. This years program was titled, "A Cold in my Nose". They sang, played instruments, said their lines, and there was even some hula-hooping!

Field Trip Learning (and Fun)!

This year, the third grade took their field trip a little earlier in the year! They visited the Morris Conservation Center at Bass Pro and got to see an animal presentation that included an owl, a vulture, a snake and a rabbit. They learned about animal adaptations that help them survive in the wild. Along with the presentation they participated in three different activity stations that helped them experiment with how animals adapt to survive in their surroundings. It was a lot of learning and a lot more fun! Following this visit, they also got to tour the Springfield Cardinals Stadium. Although it was a bit windy, the kids enjoyed getting to walk around the field, go into the dugouts and check out the suites! Thanks to both of these organizations for hosting our students!

Spelling Bee

Kaitlin W. is this year's third grade spelling bee champion! The runner-up is Alex B. We were proud of all 16 participants. They all showed quite a bit of talent at this year's bee.

McTeachers' Night (part 2)

The Rogersville McDonalds hosted ANOTHER McTeachers' Night for the Elementary! We are so lucky to have this wonderful business support along with the support of parents who come and bring their students to this event. We are also VERY lucky to have teachers willing to spend their evening at McDonald's to help raise extra funds for our building.

From this one evening, McDonalds will be giving our school $562.36! They will also be providing a Happy Meal party to a class from each grade level that had the highest percentage of attendance along with ice cream sundaes for the second place classes.

Thank you McDonalds, community, and Teachers! Partnerships like this make our school great!
