My roots are planted in the small, but rather well-known area, of Sevierville, Tennessee. It's the only place I've ever known. My dad is from there, and my mom is only a few minutes down the road in Dandridge, Tennessee. When I say that my family doesn't live anywhere but East Tennessee, I whole heartedly mean it. I really couldn't tell you one relative that lives outside of the area. My family is actually rather small; I'm the oldest of two kids. My brother is five years younger than I am, but the kid is quite honestly my best friend. I am extremely blessed to be able to call the Great Smoky Mountains my home. I love to be outdoors, and this beautiful creation in my backyard makes me love it that much more.
East Tennessee State University was not my first option. I wanted to stay closer to home. All I could do is picture myself living in Knoxville with all of my closest friends and attending the University of Tennessee. However, all of that changed when I had my first campus visit at ETSU. I fell in love with Johnson City and everything it had to offer. So then, I had made up my mind. I would be lying if I said that coming in as a freshman, not knowing much of anyone (just a couple of friends from high school) did not intimidate me. It took a while to get used to things, but I could not have asked for a better freshman year of college. My sophomore year was even better; I decided to go through sorority recruitment. I found my home in Sigma Kappa. I have my sorority to thank for giving my some of my best memories and closest friends thus far. Several majors later, here I am as a junior currently majoring in Media and Communication with a concentration in Advertising/PR, also minoring in Marketing, and I could not be more positive of this path I'm taking.
