For those parents who are attending one of next week’s afternoon performances, tea and coffee will be available in the Hall after the performance. Hopefully, this will be of help whilst you’re waiting for your little ones to finish school. Any volunteers to help serve tea or coffee with Mrs Hopson would be much appreciated. Thanks.
We have a few spare tickets for the performances next week, with the exception of the Year 1/2 evening performance on 17 December and the Year 4/5 evening performance on 18 December. We have no further tickets for these two performances. If you require tickets for any of the others, please contact the office.
We currently have a vacancy for a Co-opted Governor. If you, or somebody you know, has a particular skill and/or expertise in HR and/or Finance and have the time to spare we would love to hear from you. Being a School Governor is a challenging but highly rewarding experience and gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to the education and lives of young people.
There is no requirement for you to have an understanding of the education system, just the necessary skills, character and time to contribute. There is plenty of training available to help you learn about education and you will be mentored by one of our existing and experienced Governors.
If you would like more information, please contact the Headteacher at school or the Chair of Governors at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Thursday 12th December, Breakfast Club held "A Festive Breakfast" for parents to attend with their children. It was a really good turnout and the hall was brimming with festive cheer. Thank you to our Breakfast Club team for organising and all of our parents who attended.
Ding Dong Merrily on High …….
Yet again, children in our school choirs have represented the school fabulously this week. On Thursday, we had our second visit to Darwen Market with the Year 3/4 choir performing this time.
On Friday a group of children selected from both the Year 5/6 choir performed to the Sunnyhurst Residents Association. I know that the retired people in the audience enjoyed their christmas lunch even more with the live entertainment of Avondale School Choir!
From Sparkle & Shine (with the groovy dance moves!) to Jingle Bells to All I want for Christmas - the singing was lively, energetic and full of passion and the children did the school proud.
As we have shared over the last couple of weeks, we have had a number of children that have had coughs and colds etc and understandably this has affected our attendance. As such, we will start our attendance reporting again in the New Year. If your child is off, please remember to contact school daily via the absence line - 01254 763084.
