Missions Update December, 2018

Please pray for Matt & Noelle Harris!

Praise God for Matt & Noelle Harris, who serve in Uganda!

Prayer requests:

  • Please pray for the men Matt disciples through the pastor training program. These men stay at the mission for 1 week out of every month during a 2-year program. While in the program, they study through the entire Bible, verse-by-verse, so they are equipped and ready to teach their congregations. Pray that each man leaves "thoroughly equipped for every good work" - 2 Timothy 3:17.
  • Pray for Matt's other responsibility, the Business as Mission facet of the ministry. Matt oversees agricultural projects - a chicken farm, fish farm, and grain mill. These projects provide income for the ministry and also serve the community around them. Meteorologists predict a famine in this part of Uganda for the next few years. Please pray for Matt to be used like Joseph to "preserve the lives of many people."
  • Pray for Noelle as she ministers to her family through homemaking and homeschooling, and also as she serves the mission and her neighbors around her.
  • Pray for health for the Harris family (Matt, Noelle, Emma, Madeline, and Noah), who were all recently diagnosed with malaria. Praise God they are feeling better, but please continue to pray for recovery and protection from illnesses!
Mosque in Central Asia

Praise God!

Thank you for praying for our missionary in Central Asia, and the sports tournament he led last month. He shares that they oversaw more than 80 games in 4 days with teams from 3 countries! Thank God for the open doors that allowed natural relationships to grow in this country which is closed to traditional missionaries and evangelism.

Thank God for his relationship with "Nathan", a sports official from a Muslim background. They initially connected over the tournament and sports, but conversations about contracts, reputations, and integrity allowed our missionary to share about his Christian faith. The relationship continues to deepen, and "Nathan" seems to be growing in his respect for our missionary and the way he operates. Please pray for good conversations and an open heart, for "Nathan" to receive the Gospel as "...the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe." I Thessalonians 2:13

His Safe Haven - Liberia

Please pray:

His Safe Haven, a ministry to Liberian children with special needs, asked for prayer for a little 9-day old baby that was just brought to the group home by a local hospital. The baby was born missing his whole arm on one side and only has a few fingers on his other hand. The mother refused to take the baby and the hospital will not keep the child under their care. They are asking His Safe Haven to take the child.

Please pray for wisdom as His Safe Haven does not currently have a foster mom to take care of another child, nor the resources to provide the care.

Bob Simons, Missionary to Latin America

Praise God!

Many of you prayed for new opportunities for CWC missionary Bob Simons to train pastors in Baja, Mexico. He was able to give a pastors' conference in Baja in November, and had other opportunities to build connections with the Bible Institute and Calvary Chapel there.

Please continue to pray for open doors, and for God to use Bob to bless and build up His church in the region.

Eddie Broussard, Global Missionary

Praise God for Eddie & Barbie Broussard, and their work with the Navigators. One of their recent roles was to oversee the selection of the new Regional Director of Latin America. Please pray for a smooth transition, and for God's name to be glorified by the Navigator's ministry all over Latin America.

Yazidi Children in Iraq

Thank you for continuing to pray for Mike, who ministers in closed countries in the Middle East. A main focus is the Yazidi refugees in Northern Iraq. Even though the ISIS reign of terror has ended, the Yazidi families are not able to return home due to the great security risk, destroyed homes and infrastructure, multiple military militias in the area and ongoing territorial disputes.

Mike's team serves 100+ families. By continued and consistent compassion, aid, training, and a listening ear, they have been able to help and build relationships and friendships. As time goes on, they are able to speak deeper into the lives of these families to bring needed emotional healing and growth in the fullness of life in every aspect.

Join the global work of missions by remembering our missionaries in prayer or supporting a missionary personally.

CWC missionaries receive only a small part of their mission funding and living expenses from the church. They are dependent on individuals who give.

When you pray or give, YOU are part of the Great Commission - going into all the world to spread the Gospel!

Be a part of the work God is doing at Calvary Worship Center!

Use your gifts to send CWC missionaries! In just 30 minutes a month, you can help pass out missions prayer cards after the service you regularly attend. Other options: help with Facebook posts, attend a missionary potluck, help with supply drives, or write encouraging cards to missionaries. If God is stirring you to participate in another way, please let us know!
