CHS SCALiWAGS Selected to Compete at ICHSA

We are excited to announce that our very own Charlestown High School SCALiWAGS have been selected to compete in the International Competition of High School A Cappella (ICHSA). They were judged against nearly 200 video submissions from around the country and will represent GCCSchools, Charlestown, and Southern Indiana as the only group from our state. The members are honored to participate in the quarterfinals on February 4th in Dayton, Ohio and are determined to make it to the ICHSA finals in New York City in the Spring. Take a moment to "like" the group on Facebook (ctownscaliwags) and follow on Twitter @chsscaliwags to keep up with the latest on their incredible journey!

Universal Kindergarten High Ability Assessment

Over the course of the second semester, GCCSchools will be conducting universal screening and testing of kindergarten students for high ability. As guided by the Indiana Department of Education, the district will use the CogAT, a culturally unbiased, pictorial-based aptitude measure, and NWEA, a culturally unbiased achievement measure. These tests will be administered by licensed school personnel during the regular school day.

The results of the tests will be used in conjunction with your child's daily classroom performance and other assessments regularly administered by GCCSchools to assist the school in providing educational experience that best meets a child's academic needs within his/her regular classroom setting.

The district will contact parents of kindergarten students who are identified as high ability to attend an informational meeting in May.
