Will Connor McDavid be the next Wayne Gretzky in Edmonton? BY ADAM Zaretsky

Do you know about Connor "McJesus" McDavid? Well he is from Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada and was born on January 13th, 1997. The number one pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

But there is a question going around. Will Connor McDavid be the next Wayne Gretzky in Edmonton? Connor McDavid currently leads the NHL in points with 22 goals and 52 assists(which leads the league currently in March). Since he is from Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, he is born into hockey, Wayne Gretzky is also Canadian so it could be true because he also plays for the same team Gretzky won Stanley cups with.

The season ends in April will he possibly finish with 100 points. But the question is will he be the next Gretzky? How many will he have in the playoffs? Gretzky is famous for getting multiple 100 point seasons in his career. McDavid probably has to go through many cardio drills and a lot of stick handling drills and skating drills so he can be even better when he is on the ice and and can get better to be the greatest he claims to be, just like Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky was also a captain in Edmonton, and now at 20 he is the captain of the Edmonton Oilers.

According to bleacherreport.com, Wayne Gretzky concurred with that assessment, saying McDavid has an "extra gear" he's never seen in a hockey player. Meaning Gretzky himself said this about McDavid!

According to torontosun.com, "You see how special Connor and Matthews are, and when you see things like that, you understand how much our game is changing,” Gretzky said. “These kids are so much more prepared to take the next step from peewee to juvenile to the NHL.” “These kids” He was referring to were the next big steps in hockey one of them being Connor McDavid!

So is McDavid truly the next “Great One” in the NHL?
