Overview Statement: An infection that inflames air sacs in one or both lungs, which may fill with fluid, It;s a common lung infection that can be treated without a hospital stay.

Causes: Bacteria, bacteria-like organisms, fungi, viruses

Symptoms: chest pain when you breathe or cough, confusion or changes in mental awareness (in adults 65 and older), cough, fatigue, fever, sweating shaking and chills, lower than normal body temperature, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and shortness of breath

Treatment: Antibiotics, Cough medicine, fever reducers/pain relievers

Prevention: Get vaccinated, make sure children get vaccinated, practice good hygiene, don't smoke, keep your immune system strong
