Cloning

Cloning is the process of generating a genetically identical copy of a cell or organism. Yes cloning is currently used now. The ethical issues involved with this is more likely to not live past birth, birth defects, but the therapeutic cloning can be used to creat an exact replication of the patient less rejection by body. Computers were the technology used for cloning for research.

Genetically modified organism

Genetically modified organisms is the ability to obtain specific DNA clones using recombinant DNA technology has made it possible to add the DNA of one organism to the genome of another. Yes its used now. Yes there is ethical issues involved in any of this, it can kill animals and insects. The benefits are increased amount of products. Technology is involved because they have to use technology to test the plants.

Stem cell research

Stem cell research is an ongoing source of the differentiated cells that make up the tissues and organs of animals and plants. Yes its currently used now. There are ethical issues such as the destruction of human embryos. The benefits and problems are the infection and immune rejection but it also generate healthy cells that replace dieseased ones. Technology is used to do the research for all of this.

DNA fingerprinting and crime scene investigation

DNA fingerprinting and crime scene investigation is The technique was developed in 1984 by British geneticist Alec Jeffreys, after he noticed that certain sequences of highly variable DNA (known as minisatellites), which do not contribute to the functions of genes, are repeated within genes. Yes its currently being used. No there is no ethical issues with this. The benifits are that you can keep a record of who's been in and out of jail. Technology is used to keep the record of it.

Personal ancestry and paternity kits

Paternity kits and your personal aunsestory is descent, the system of acknowledged social parentage, which varies from society to society, whereby a person may claim kinship ties with another. Yes its still used today. Yes there is ethical issues with it because it can effect of what you thought you were. The benifits is that you get to know who your ancestors are. Computer use.

PCR and Gel electrophoresis

PCR and Gel electrophoresis is when PCR amplifies the desired fragment of DNA (e.g., a specific STR) many times over, creating thousands of copies of the fragment. Yes its still used today. No. Benifits is just from that amplified piece of DNA by PCR they can identify that person. Computer usage.

Plasmids, recombinant DNA and transgenic organisms

Plasmids, recombinant DNA and transgenic organisms is recombinant DNA technology, joining together of DNA molecules from two different species that are inserted into a host organism to produce new genetic combinations that are of value to science, medicine, agriculture, and industry. Yes its still used today. No. Benifits combines DNA to make new ones. Computer usage.
