"...having done all, STAND!" Communiqué :: OCTOBER 2021

"We are not what we wear but what our heart condition is."

Hi everyone,

This Pandemic is not good. It has brought pain, misery, destruction and even death to so many people and nations. We need to pray for it to be defeated as soon as possible.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified” (Rom. 8:28-30)

Paul did not say, “all things are good...” but God causes “all things work together for good to those who love God....” Contrary to the fear of many, God’s purpose for our lives and the Church is not in any way distorted by the Pandemic that is ravaging the world today. He is using this present situation to fulfil His divine purpose. His greatest purpose is to change us so that we will be “conformed to the image of His Son...” Jesus Christ.

We must take this time to examine ourselves before the Lord:

“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? —unless indeed you are disqualified” (2 Cor. 13:5)

Are we still in the faith?

Are we still in love with Jesus? Do we still believe and stand on the unchanging Word? Worshipping, hearing God’s Word and serving God today is so very inconvenient and we become easily distracted when we have to go online. All the “trimmings” like the worship team, the comfort of a building, etc. that we are so used to are now no longer available.

Always remember, we are not what we wear but what our heart condition is. Are Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God still our treasure? “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt. 6:21).

How are we serving?

The fire of trials and hardship will reveal the motivation and quality of our service. We are just servants (bond slaves) given the privilege to serve the sovereign God. We just have to do our part and leave the rest to God. It is God who brings the increase.

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants, and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building” (1 Cor. 3:6-9)

The foundation and superstructure of our ministry is Jesus Christ:

“According to the grace of God, which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. (1 Cor. 3:10-15)

I want to encourage everyone of you to trust in our heavenly Father, who loved us enough to send His Son to die on the cross for us. He continues to love us and will “give us freely all things…”

“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things” (Rom. 8:32)

Your Pastors,

Pastor Ong Sek Leang & Pastor Nancy Ong

Overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit’s Power

“…..When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. ( NKJV Isaiah 59:19)

The Pandemic has overwhelmed the entire world in frightening ways. Let us pray for divine intervention and for a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will fill and overwhelm the people of God. We need to keep our faith, exercise our faith, declare our faith, and share our faith during this crucial time in the world.

Join us every Wednesday night (Online) at 8:00pm as we pray for ourselves, our church and the nation.

As many areas around the world enforce strict measures to control Coronavirus, we are thankful for the privilege to run The Marriage Course online for the year 2021. During this season, we are very thankful to The Lord for guiding us and also providing us additional help with whatever knowledge of IT for us to run the course online smoothly.

This year, The Marriage Course Online was run from 17 April to 5 June 2021. We had a total of 15 married couples ranging from being married for 6 months to 27 years who had intentionally invested in their time to enhance their marriage.

We have participants from Singapore, Hong Kong and Costa Rica in Central America and of course from Malaysia.

This course is designed to help couples build strong foundations, learn to communicate effectively, resolve differences, keep the spark alive and stay connected in their marriage.

It covers seven sessions:

  • Strengthening Connection
  • The Art of Communication
  • Resolving Conflict
  • The Power of Forgiveness
  • The Impact of Family
  • Good Sex and
  • Love in Action

Couples feedback that they would definitely recommend The Marriage Course to other couples. The course has positively impacted their relationship. In general, the rating of 1 -10 in the areas of “The talks, private discussions, video couples and course administration” is between 8-10.

In conclusion, in every adversity there is an opportunity in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic. This ministry has become border-less conducting it on the online platform. As a result, we thank God for couples from different parts of the world. As it is said a garden needs to be tended to blossom. Similarly a marriage needs to be given priority, focus and care to see it flourish.

A special note of thanks to Bro. Steven & Sis Rosalind , Bro John & Sis Grace, Bro Sai Keong & Sis Lek Eng and other pastors and couples who had laid the foundation and served faithfully to enable the marriages to be enhanced and enriched.
