SEND to Enterprise

An experiential overview of developing and running a trading business

Designed for KS5 MLD SEND school cohorts

Overview

  • Once a week programme running for the 38 week school year.
  • Cohorts of up to 12 students (min 8)
  • Experienced SEND facilitators with a diverse range of business specialisms to support the emerging needs of the student company.
  • Corporate Relationship Lead to create partnerships between the student company and relevant local businesses
  • Set within our own existing businesses to provide real life customer service experience and consumer-led enterprise performance indicators
  • Trainee progress recorded and promoted through our in-house documentary and social media channels.
  • All trainees and schools to receive their online e-MAP (employability Multimedia Achievement Passport) as a record of their year's journey.
  • Flexible location options: if preferred, training can initially take place within the school to allow students to become familiar with their facilitator before transitioning into our Visable business premises

Aimed at SEND school and college leavers

Overview

One-to-One mentoring to establish appropriate and meaningful pathway options

Access to a daily training programme tailored to work interests

Social media promotion to suitable mainstream industries

Corporate Relationship Lead to create partnerships with relevant local businesses

Transition support for placement in interested employer industries

Experienced SEND facilitators with a diverse range of business specialisms

Set within our own existing businesses to provide real life customer service experience and consumer-led enterprise performance indicators

Online link to multimedia record of progress to support CV for future job applications (E-MAP)

Set within The Sand Project's own high street café, SAND, this is a work experience opportunity like no other.

SEND to Self Employment

An ongoing mentoring program that creates partnerships with skilled young people to support the design, development and running of a commercial business as a self-employed professional.

Aimed at SEND young people with Higher Education qualifications or market ready skills

Overview

One-to-One mentoring to establish a suitable skill/qualification based enterprise

Developing a prototype of the product or service for marketing purposes

Creation of start-up marketing and promotion materials

Setting up a web page for your business

Support with setting up as a sole trader, including informing HMRC, invoicing, basic book-keeping and tax self-assessment registration.

Experienced SEND facilitators with a diverse range of business specialisms

Corporate Relationship Lead to create partnerships with relevant local businesses

Set within our own existing businesses to provide real life customer service experience and consumer-led enterprise performance indicators
