The Baker Blast Orientation Week Edition

It was great seeing so many of our students during Adventure Island. If their excitement is any indicator of how the rest of our student body feels, this is going to be a great year!

Orientation Week

iPads Only on the First Day of School - Tuesday 8/31

Parents please encourage your student to only bring their iPad on the first day of school. We have a variety of tasks scheduled through the week and students will not need any additional items with them on the first day of school. Several students experience anxiety and many stressors on the first day. Bringing extra items and knowing how to open their locker doesn't need to be one of them.

School Pay

All students in the Troy School District will receive meals for free this year. We do offer additional snack items and beverages that students can purchase during breakfast and lunch. As a part of our mitigation strategy for contact free transactions, we are encouraging families to utilize our electronic transaction service called School Pay.

SchoolPay handles all parent, community, and staff payments from an easy-to-use, fully self-service interface. You can add money to your student's account using the link above. We use this system for most school transactions, including iPad insurance, field trip payments, etc.

Bus Stop Information

If your student is eligible for bus transportation, his/her bus time and transportation times to and from school are available in your PowerSchool Parent Portal. Here are the steps to view your student’s bus stop information for the 2021-2022 school year.

  • Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal using the link above.
  • Once you log in, click on the Bus Stop navigation link on the left side to view your child’s bus number, bus stop location, and estimated pick-up and drop-off times.

Please be sure to have your student at the bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled pick up time. Your child's bus number will appear on a placard on the side of each bus. Please remind your child to board the bus with his or her number on the placard.

We are asking that all families eligible for transportation services use them. We share our campus with the International Academy. The pick up and drop off traffic volumes can be very high and affect student arrival times.

Pick Up & Drop Off Procedures

If you drop off and/or pick up your student, please review the information below and the image above. Following our drop off procedures will help ensure the safety of our students and staff as they enter and exit the building.

  • Students may be dropped off at Baker Middle School as early as 7:30 AM.
  • Students will have access to the interior areas of the building at 7:45 AM.
  • Please pull as far ahead as possible before dropping off.
  • The Drop Off area ends where the stop sign is located on the map above.

Picture Make-Up Day

September 14th - Save the Date

Kaiser Studio will return to Baker on September 14th to take the picture of any student who missed registration day. All Baker students are expected to take a picture and receive a school ID. These pictures will be used in our yearbook and Powerschool data base.

7th/8th Girls Basketball

We are looking forward to another exciting school year and are thrilled that the fall sports season is about to begin. The Girls' 7th & 8th Grade Basketball Tryout dates are listed below. If your student is interested in participating, please be sure to compete a physical, create a Final Forms account, using the link above. Washington DC Trip 2022

Attention parents of 8th graders who are interested in gaining information on the 2022 Washington DC Trip are invited to attend a virtual parent meeting on Wednesday September 8 at 6pm. The purpose of this meeting is to introduce the trip, answer any questions on registration, schedule, etc. If you are already registered, you can attend to ask questions with Mr. MacIntosh
