The Palm Sunday Avalanche was on April 3, 1898. Heavy snow fell in February and March on the first days of April. Warm winds from the south created unstable conditions.

The Palm Sunday Avalanche happened in Chilkoot, Alaska. About 65 lives were lost. The Palm Sunday Avalanche was a widely reported event.
