Game Notes Week 14 at Los angeles rams

Falcons Win Big

The Atlanta Falcons blow out the Los Angeles Rams on the road, 42-14 on their way to their eighth victory of the season.

The Falcons offense recorded 286 total yards on the day. QB Matt Ryan went 18-of-28 for 237 yards, with three passing touchdowns, and a 126.6 passer rating. Ryan continued his streak of 200+ passing yards to 52 straight games. He’s also now thrown a touchdown pass in 15 straight games. Ryan eclipsed the 4,000 yard passing mark for the sixth straight season. That streak ties Peyton Manning 1999-2004 for the second longest streak in NFL history.

Ryan also has 30 passing touchdowns on the year, which is the second time he’s reached 30 touchdowns in his career.

RB Tevin Coleman recorded his second multi-touchdown game of the year. He scored his second receiving touchdown of the year and his seventh rushing touchdown of the year, for his ninth total touchdown of the season. This is the third time in franchise history that two Falcons running backs have had eight or more touchdowns in the same season.

WR Taylor Gabriel caught his fifth touchdown pass of the year on a 64-yard bomb on the opening drive of the second half. That touchdown was Gabriel’s fourth touchdown of 35+ yards. He finished the game with three receptions for 82 yards.

The Falcons defense held Rams QB Jared Goff to a 54.4 quarterback rating, which is the lowest rating the defense has allowed all season. The defense also scored two touchdowns for the second time in franchise history (week four – 2015 vs. Houston Texans). The defense also forced a season-high five turnovers. That total is the most turnovers they’ve recorded since week three of 2014 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

LB Paul Worrilow recovered his second fumble of the season on the opening kickoff, which led to WR Justin Hardy scoring his third receiving touchdown of the season. The touchdown score was the fastest score (10 seconds) since 2001 (six seconds vs. St. Louis Rams) in franchise history.

S Ricardo Allen recorded his second interception on the season on the Rams’ opening drive. DT Courtney Upshaw forced and recovered his first fumble of the season as well later in the game.

Rookie LB Deion Jones recorded his third pick of the year, which he returned for a 33-yard touchdown. He is the fifth Falcon with two interceptions returned for a touchdown in the same season – only rookie. He leads all rookies in the NFL with two defensive touchdowns.

OLB Vic Beasley Jr. became the first Falcon - and 10th NFL player - with 3+ sacks and a fumble returned for a touchdown in a single game since sacks became official in 1982. Beasley Jr. pushed his sack total to 13.5, which is tied for the league lead. That number is also the second most sacks recorded in a single season in franchise history.

He also has six forced fumbles on the year, which ties John Abraham for the most in a single season in franchise history, and currently leads the NFL this season.
