Earth's Oceans

Why can't people drink Sea Water? "Drinking seawater can kill humans ... Human kidneys can only make urine that is less salty than salt water. Therefore, to get rid of all the excess salt taken in by drinking seawater, you have to urinate more water than you drank. Eventually, you die of dehydration even as you become thirstier. "

Why is the ocean important to life on earth? Oceans take up nearly three quarter of our planet, they also produce 50 percent of oxygen in our Earth's atmosphere. The ocean is also a large food supply to humans.
How is ocean current related to earth's climate? Land areas and the atmosphere absorb some sunlight, the majority of the sun’s radiation is absorbed by the ocean. In addition to storing solar radiation the ocean so helps to distribute heat around the globe. The ocean transports warm water and precipitation from the equator toward the poles and to the tropics.
Zones of the Oceans- Sunlit Zone- the sunlit zone gets the most sunlight and has the most plants and contains sea life including seals, sea turtles, sharks, manta rays, and sea lions. Twilight Zone- There is not much for light in this region, no growth of plants. Forms of sea life live here which include jellyfish, octopuses, and squid. Midnight Zone- There is no sunlight, forms of sea life here are viperfish, anglerfish, snipe eel. and tripod fish which all don't have eyes. Abyss- Far Down in the ocean, most fish here lack a backbone. includin sea spiders, other sea life in this zone are the blind shrimp and hagfish. Hadal Zone- Depths of this zone are found in water trenches and canyons. Water temperatures barely sbove 32 Degrees. A form of sea life here is sea cucumbers.
Resources we use from the oceans- the ocean provides minerals such as salt, sand, gravel, and some manganese, copper, nickel, iron, and cobalt. The ocean is also drilled for oil and it helps to remove carbon from the atmosphere and and supply oxygen.
