Lion's Arts Beat A celebration of the arts at Lusher

THIS WEEK'S SPOTLIGHT MEDIA ARTS

Welcome to Lusher’s space for sharing news about the arts! The Lusher arts community has been busy despite our distance from one another. The students and faculty have continued to imagine, create, inspire, and push boundaries through the arts. We are excited to launch a space that showcases the work in each of the arts disciplines on both campuses. This will be a place to share and celebrate the work of our students and staff with the broader Lusher community. We hope you love it!

I would like to personally thank the amazing group of artist/teachers here at Lusher. While there are so many things that our current situation may have taken from us, the arts have not been one of them. Our students, guided by an amazing faculty, have continued to pursue their passions in order to create and perform in innovative ways. The arts have provided our students with a way to connect with each other and an avenue to process their feelings.

Enjoy this first issue which highlights Media Arts.

CA MEDIA ARTS LEVEL 2 PHOTOGRAPHY

Level 2 students started the beginning photography portion of our CA program with an assignment titled Environmental Portraiture. Students create portraits of their subjects in the subject’s usual environment. The environment tells the viewer just as much about the subject as the subject’s facial expressions and captured emotions.

CA MEDIA ARTS LEVEL 3 PHOTOGRAPHY

These photos represent a small selection of different personal projects students have completed over the course of this school year. They come from personal portfolios and assignments on composition and visual storytelling.

CA MEDIA ARTS LEVEL 4 FILMS

Cinematic Self-Portraits: These films capture a specific feeling or mood while also telling us something about the filmmaker. The attempt is to capture their personality in general or focus on one aspect of their lives.
