March at Minet

Once a year Sing Up sets a special day to celebrate the power of singing together and working together around the world to promote singing. On the 14th March 2019, we took part in Sing Up day. Pupils enjoyed performing and singing around the school. Parents were greeted at the school gates, with a variety of songs that the children have been learning in school.

What an amazing day the Year 1 children had on their visit to Windsor Castle!

It was a great experience for the children, especially when they saw the Changing of the Guards, visited St George's Chapel and walked around the State Apartments. The children couldn't believe that they were standing in the actual place that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married.

Thank you to all the staff at Windsor and our parents who made this a memorable day!

A real cocoa bean

Year 2 have really enjoyed learning all about chocolate and where it comes from. We had a fantastic few days learning all about the History of Chocolate with a very exciting workshop! The children were able to design and create their very own chocolate lollipops and discovered that not all chocolate is as healthy as we may have once thought... The children were taken back in time to the Aztecs and the Mayan's and they all had great fun acting out different scenes. Year 2 are definitely now experts Chocolatiers.

We had fun on World Book Day by dressing up as characters from our favourite books. Harry Potter waved his magic wand, and the Tiger came to tea!

On Friday 15th March Minet Nursery and Infant School had a non-uniform day to raise money for the charity, Comic Relief. We asked the children and staff to wear red. The children had a great day wearing their red clothes and learning about all the important work that Comic Relief do. The whole day was enjoyed by all and we raised a fantastic £280.

Thank you so much for your kind donations and the effort that you put in to support your children.

This month the school took part in Fairtrade Day once again. The children learnt the importance of: Article 32

Article 32: If you work, you have the right to be safe and paid fairly

In assembly children learnt about the Fairtrade Foundation and across the school took part in learning activities. Nursery looked for the Fairtrade Logo and sorted food. Reception made Fairtrade banana milkshakes and put Fairtrade food in their shopping trolley Year 1 made Fairtrade chocolate biscuits, Fairtrade chocolate and banana milkshake and played a Fairtrade Game. Year 2 are learning about chocolate this half term and made a Fairtrade chocolate Factsheet. We are very pleased to have renewed our FairAware award and have a new certificate to display as well!
