South Africa Stellenbosch & Cape Town - Madikwe Hills safari lodge

Each year SYNC Excursions takes a group of seven couples to the beautiful country of South Africa. The trip kicks off with six nights in the spectacular Western Cape. Here we spend three nights in the historic wine town of Stellenbosch at the luxurious Coopmanhuijs Hotel followed by three nights at the stunning Queen Victoria Hotel at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

While in the Cape, we play rounds of golf at Steenberg Golf Club, DeZalze Golf Club and Pearl Valley - a multiple-time host of the South African Open. These courses all rank amongst the top courses in the country. Highlights of our time in the Cape also include a winery visit to Ernie Els Winery - South Africa's leading producer of cabernet sauvignon and a private walking culinary tour of Cape Town's famous Bo Kaap region.

Site-seeing in one of the world's most beautiful cities includes an excursion to the top of the majestic Table Mountain - one of the natural wonders of the world, shopping at the renowned Victoria & Alfred Waterfront shops and time to enjoy the sights and sounds of one of South Africa's oldest towns - Stellenbosch. Non-golfers are always welcome and we include a wide array of activities including a Cape Town cooking class, a garden tour and lunch at Babylonstoren and an insightful private walking tour in Stellenbosch.

Following our time in Cape Town, our group travels to Johannesburg via commercial airline. Here we board our own charter flight and head north for Madikwe Game Reserve and the luxurious Madikwe Hills Lodge.

One of South Africa’s premier game-viewing destinations, the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve is home to the Big Five, the rare African wild dog as well as cheetah, giraffe, hyena, and a host of other game species. The all-inclusive ten suite Madikwe Hills Lodge is ingeniously set amongst boulders and age-old Tamboti trees and offers guests the most amazing South African luxury safari experience. We first started bringing clients to Madikwe Game Reserve in 2006 and have now spent close to 100 nights at this quintessential African reserve. We are confident you will discover why we have always returned.

This beautiful and diverse African wilderness encompasses 75,000 hectares of widely varying terrain. Madikwe Hills is centrally located to allow for easy access to all corners of the reserve, giving visitors a huge game drive advantage over other lodges situated on the borders of the reserve. Guests stay in private romantic and secluded suites with rich African textures. Each suite boasts wrap-around glass walled interiors with uninterrupted views of the surrounding bush, spectacular bathrooms with roll top baths as well as indoor and outdoor showers and a private pool and sun deck.

Dining options at this outstanding lodge include the main deck, which overlooks an active waterhole, the elegant dining room and the very popular open-air traditional boma. Private dinners on the deck of your suite are also offered to couples wanting to spend time together in privacy.

The Madikwe Game Reserve is one of the few places in Africa where you have an excellent chance of seeing the Magnificent Seven which include; cheetah, rhino, wild dog, elephant, lion, leopard and Cape buffalo.
