DIGITAL PORTFOLIOS FOR ANY CLASSROOM

Eulia Kilgore, Fourth Grade teacher at Spicer Elementary is providing an opportunity for her students to create a digital portfolio of their work. They are using Seesaw to build their portfolios - which includes the option to share student work with parents.

Adding an Entry to Their Portfolios
Students can “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links.

Seesaw works on the devices you already have - iPads, androids, laptops, chromebooks, android tablets and even Kindle Fires. Students can log in using a QR code or using their Google account sign in. Once they have joined their teachers' Seesaw class, they can begin adding content and completing activities. With each piece added, students can attach a reflection piece using video or text response. Teachers and students can easily see progress and track growth over time.

Choosing an Activity to Build the Portfolio

As they add content to their portfolio, it can be managed by creating specific folders. This brings structure to their portfolio and helps students with organizational skills. Teachers have the option of sharing specific pieces with parents- or even entire folders. A messaging feature allows teachers to communicate directly and privately with parents as well.

Adding a Reflection

With Seesaw, Ms. Kilgore's students now have the opportunity to explain their learning instead of just showcasing an end result, answer or project. The portfolios give the students an authentic audience and encourages students to share their best work while getting feedback from peers and the teacher.
