MY SELF-PRESENTATIon
I PRESENT REGGIO EMILIA
MY SCHOOL
In my school we deal with art at 360 degrees. It is divided into various addresses: design, architecture and environment, visual arts and multimedia audiovisuals. I chose furniture design, which involves the development of skills related to a design process and its execution, thanks to the use of planning programs, such as AutoCad and SketcUp.
MY LANGUAGE SKILLS
My mother tongue is italian, but I study english at school. Indeed, thanks to the development of my language skills, last year I took a certificate B1 with Cambridge.
MY ACHIEVEMENTS AT SCHOOL
Moon Lamp
One of the jobs I am most satisfied with is a lamp: “moon lamp”. It is a lamp made by me in wood and opaque bioplastic. Before proceeding with the realization of the object, I took care of the technical drawings thanks to the use of design programs such as AutoCad and SketchUp.
The starting idea was to make the ascent to the moon. In fact, I made a stair leading to the moon.
Speaking of materials, the project involves the use of bio materials: the stair is made of wood, while the moon is made of bioplatic. When I made the lamp, I had to use normal plastic because it was the only one available in school. A warm light led strip is inserted inside the structure of the moon.
EXHIBITION STAND
The shape of the exhibition stand is inspired by the graphics of the ZANOTTA company. The first letter of the logo is resumed, that is the Z: from here the project comes to life.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
One of my greatest passions are animals, especially horses. For this reason, I have a ranch where many activities with children take place. Indeed, I have another passion: I like taking care of children and spending time with them.

DAY 1
Finally it's time to leave! We met at 04:30 at Bologna airport. Our flight included a stopover at Munich Airport.
We arrived at Dublin airport at 10 am. Mr. Alberto Rizzini was waiting for us. He is the Secretary General of the IICC.
He took us directly to our apartment, located in the center of Dublin. After leaving our suitcases, we immediately began to visit the city. We had lunch and then we went to Trinity College, the university of Dublin, where we visited the huge Library of Trinity College.
I was very fascinated by the size of this library and the huge amount of books it contains.
Finally, we returned to the apartment: at 6 pm we met with the teachers for the briefing.
Even though it was a tiring day, I really enjoyed what little I saw
DAY 2
Today we had our first lesson at the ATC Language Schools. During the lesson the teacher Nadine taught us how to describe a work of art. In particular, we talked about the use of the passive, the gallery visit notes, how understanding an exhibition and Eileen Gray, that was one of the leading members of the modern design movement.
After eating, we walked around the city and finally went to the National Gallery of Ireland.
After returning home, we did the briefing, to also talk about the management of the various meals. I really enjoyed preparing food on our own...we both have so much fun!
DAY 3
Today is a great day!
After having breakfast, we took a walk to reach Mr. Alberto Rizzini. He accompanied us to Vision Creative Studios, a design studio, where Mr. Aaron O'Grady, the founder of the studio, was waiting for us.
He welcomed us by letting us visit the studio: he began by telling us about his life path, talking to us about the studies and work trips he has undertaken. Later, as we walked around the studio, he explained what they do, illustrating the machines they use to work and the projects they have created.
We had the opportunity to meet some employees and see them working, both with the machines and in the offices. Moreover, an Italian employee of the company told us specifically about her journey: she first spoke to us about her studies in Italy and then told us about her move to Dublin. I think she is a girl to be admired for all she has managed to achieve in such a short time, considering her young age.
Finally, he deepened his way of working within the company, talking to us about a very interesting project that is underway: it is the Buddalife, which was created to take care of the environment with the sustainability of the products.
After visiting the company, Mr. Aaron offered us a brunch at a restaurant he works with. On this occasion we had the opportunity to show Aaron our projects carried out at school. Unfortunately, not all of us were able to exhibit our work. I must admit that I was a little disappointed, because I really wanted to show my projects, especially because the company deals with the sector I’m studying, furniture design.
At the end of this day, I took home so many emotions. There are several things that struck me, starting with the fact that in this company the employees are not all Irish, but on the contrary they come from various parts of the world. Aaron's helpfulness and kindness impressed me a lot, also because he wasn’t required to dedicate all that time to visit the company. He could have entrusted this task to an employee. Furthermore, I am very happy to have visited a non-Italian company, because it allowed me to understand how the working world works abroad.
Back to school, before saying goodbye, the teacher gave us a task to do. It is a task that we have given directly to the teacher and that will be evaluated by her.
After having lunch, we went to visit the National Museum of Ireland: with about 4,000,000 exhibits, the archaeological collections retrace the development of Irish civilization. We paid particular attention to the room dedicated to Eileen Gray, who was one of the most influential designers and architects of the 20th century. She is a very important artist for Dublin. In fact, the teacher Nadine had already told us about her at school.
Going to a non-Italian school excited me a lot! The lessons given by prof Nadine were very interesting and I was able to deepen some aspects of both school and the English language.
DAY 5
Here we are at the last day available to visit the city.
After having breakfast, we went for a walk to arrive at Dublin City Gallery, the foremost public collection of contemporary art in Ireland.
After the visit, we went to eat in a typical Dublin restaurant and then we had the possibility to shop.
As always, at 6 pm we met with the teachers for the briefing.
It was time to pack and tidy up the house.
DAY 6
Our plane departed at 8:30 from Dublin Airport. To return to Italy we had to make a stopover at Frankfurt airport.
We arrived at Bologna airport at 2 pm.
Dublin was a discovery. I never expected so much from this experience: it gave me the opportunity to test myself. Each part of the city offers you something special. It was a journey full of emotions, made better by my companions. I will definitely stay there again.
I want to make a special thanks to the teachers who accompanied us on this adventure and to the school that gave us this great opportunity.
