East Carolina University is a recognized leader in health sciences. We are the top producer of newly-licensed nurses among four-year institutions in North Carolina.
If you’re eager to make a difference in the lives of others, to advocate for patients and their families, and to provide top-tier patient care, ECU is an ideal choice for your nursing education.
As a Pirate Nurse, you’ll be part of a rich tradition. Established in 1959, the college educates exceptional nurse leaders who are raising the standard of care for patients in North Carolina and beyond.
The 303,000-square-foot Health Sciences Building was built in 2006 and houses the Colleges of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and the Laupus Health Sciences Library. The $60 million building has eight simulation labs where students learn patient care techniques using technologies such as a fully functioning operating room and computerized manikins.
Our state-of-the-art simulation labs provide lifelike point-of-care learning. Our students experience opportunities to learn and practice in a realistic and risk-free environment.
Across all of our programs we’re focused on your success. At ECU, you’ll find dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to academic excellence and to providing a quality learning environment. ECU provides a student development and counseling center, a student services center with advisors, smart classrooms and an expert technology team to support the needs of students.
“I find pride, happiness and a sense of purpose when I see that the help I give makes others well. The education that I’ve received, and hands-on experiences, have put me in a very good position to excel in the nursing profession. I know there is more to learn and I’m ready for that challenge. Being in the classroom, and helping patients, invigorates me to pursue my dream of being a nurse.”
