The Llorona is a story that has a beautiful girl named Maria that falls in love with a wealthy rancher. Later on they have kids and the rancher cheats on Maria which causes her to be filled with rage. Without thinking she drowns her own children and then she kills herself. Now her ghost looks for the 2 kids
The ghost symbolizes mystery

The meaning of the the legend is that you have to think about your actions before you do them.

The reason for retelling this story is to scare kids to make them do the right thing.
