Canisius in a Nutshell One class. Forty students. One moderator. A lot of talent

Canisius in a Nutshell

11-Canisius is a very talented class. It is filled with several actors, writers, singers, student-athletes, painters and many more.

Canisius in a Nutshell magazine aims to highlight one characteristic of 11-Canisius that stands out when somebody talks about the class. This characteristic is the class being multi-talented. That's why "Canisius in a Nutshell" is the title of our magazine because through highlighting how multi-talented the class is , we are able to describe the class fully and as a whole. With only one word, the class is fully described.

Ars: By Voice, By Hand

by Sergei Lim

Arts. Visual and performance. Symbols and words. Print and voice. The arts are as diverse as the people that exemplify them. In the class of Canisius, this is never false.

On the 28th of January at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Paco Park, Manila, Elise Ofilada was awarded second place in essay writing for her piece entitled “Philippine Heritage: the Flawed Vehicle of Metaphor”. Elise is a member of Pugad, Ampersand Literature and Art Folio, and a practicing spoken word artist.

For the past few weeks at the Ateneo Senior High School lobby, there has been a small art exhibit, dubbed “Crop” featuring the works of various students, including the portrait of Deji Nela Eclarin, entitled “Loca”. Deji is a member of the Art Guild, Ampersand Literature and Art Folio, and can be commissioned into creating art pieces.

Mens Sana in Corpore Sano: Swim and Spike for Greatness

by Aaron Thomas Santos

There is a saying in Latin, “Mens sana in corpore sano”. In English, the saying stands for “sound mind, sound body”, which embodies the ideal Atenean. This shows that an ideal Atenean should be able to excel in both the physical world and the mental. Sports and academics. Two students from Canisius are able to embody this saying: Abai Llenos and Suzanne Himor.
