Dietrich Bonhoeffer By: Logan Beck

Family: Karl Bonhoeffer and Paula Bonhoeffer (Parents), 3 Brothers, and 4 Sisters
Born Febuary 4, 1906 in Germany. As a child he was musically inclined and enjoyed playing multiple instruments. When he was 14 he wanted to be priest, and when he graduated from the University of Berlia in 1927, he became a priest and then a minister a few years later.
Bonhoeffer was known for argueing that the church was responsible for acting against Jewish persecution during Nazi reign. He persuaded many churches and communities to speak against cruel Nazi acts.
Bonhoeffer was imprisoned and sent to two Nazi concentration camps and was executed at the second concentration camp, Flossenburg concentration camp, on April 9, 1945 at 39.
Due to his service he was honored with the Peabody award and some of his famous quotes have been used in multiple articles. Such as: "Judging others makes us blind, whereas love is illuminating. By judging others we blind ourselves to our own evil and to the grace which others are just as entitled to as we are."
