RMC 1 - 1 Laurentian Saturday - 2018/09/01

Kingston, ON - The RMC Paladins (0-0-1) broke a 19 game losing streak in their home opener on Saturday with a 1-1 tie against the Laurentian Voyageurs (0-1-2). Nicole White scored the first goal of her U SPORTS career in tremendous fashion, hitting a free kick into the top corner to tie the game for the Paladins.

With the first game of the season complete, RMC women's soccer has entered its 25th year of competition.

RMC's Kayla Owen had the first good opportunity to score, but the ball trickled just wide of the post.

Laurentian put the ball in RMC's net before halftime, but the goal was called offside.

The game remained scoreless after 45 minutes.

Laurentian opened the scoring early in the second half. Voyageurs veteran Mia De Gasperis found the back of the net off one of the visitors' six corners kicks.

RMC responded midway through the second half with an incredible free kick from White, who placed the ball into the top-left corner to tie the game.

RMC returns to action on Sunday with another home game on Navy Bay 4 at 12:00 PM against Nipissing, while Laurentian finishes their trip to Kingston with a game against Queen's tomorrow.
