Garnet Sports Update April 24, 2017

No. 27 Men's Tennis fought off the F&M Diplomats on Saturday 7-2. Josh Powell (left) and Mark Fallati (right) clawed back from a 4-7 deficit to win the match 9-8(5).

Earlier in the week, Swarthmore plowed past Muhlenberg 9-0.

Women's Lacrosse played Muhlenberg tight in a midweek loss but came back on Saturday to beat McDaniel for the first time since 2012. The Garnet topped the Green Terror 12-8 and were led in scoring by Eliza Wainwright (five goals). The Garnet honored senior Briana Narzikul (right). Narzikul scored a pair of goals in the win.

Baseball earned a big Centennial win at Gettysburg College on Saturday 10-1 and split the series with a 6-5 loss in extra innings.

Cole Beeker (left) recorded three hits and had three runs batted in.

No. 40 Women's Tennis topped Muhlenberg 9-0 in the midweek match and then claimed a 6-3 win indoors on Saturday against F&M. Swarthmore swept doubles to pick up an important 3-0 advantage.

Track & Field dealt with a rainy Saturday in this weekend's meet at Widener. In the women's meet, Kayla Camacho (left) finished third of 72 runners in the 200 meters with a time of 25.94.

In the men's meet, freshman Vaughn Parts finished in third place in the 10,000-meter run, running the race in 32:33.41.

The Garnet will be competing in the historic Penn Relays this week.

Men's Lacrosse won a thriller on Senior Day, edging the McDaniel College Green Terror 10-9. Freshman Zander Levitz zipped in the game-winner 41 seconds into the overtime period. Cam Marsh scored four goals in the win. Senior midfielder Stephen Ducey (#14) won 15-of-19 faceoff attempts.

The Garnet sit in a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with two games remaining.

After falling at home to McDaniel, Softball bounced back on Saturday with a sweep of Muhlenberg on the road, 4-0, 5-2. Emily Bowman (right) pitched a gem in game one, only allowing three hits. Senior Sara Planthaber drove in four runs in the doubleheader.

Men's Golf hosted a tri-match on Wednesday at The Springhaven Club and played in the Glenmaura Invite on Sunday and Monday.

Dan Altieri (left) led the Garnet at both events with a 79 on Wednesday, a 76 on Sunday and an even-par 71 on Monday.
