Day 4 was a heart-breaker for the host Amherst Ramblers, who were beaten when the Ottawa Jr. Senators scored a last-second goal to win the Fred Page Cup semifinal match by a score of 4-3 on May 4.
The action throughout the game was end-to-end. Ottawa opened the scoring at 6:26 of the first period on a goal by Christopher Piche. It was the lone goal of the period.
The Ramblers tied the game at 6:07 of the second period on a goal by Casey Fox. The tie was short-lived as the Senators' Darcy Walsh scored at 9:14. Ottawa went up by two when Thomas Freel scored at 13:23.
The Ramblers began clawing themselves back into the game when Matt Green scored at the 7 minute-mark of the third to make the score 3-2 for Ottawa.
The action continued to be fast and furious during the third. The Amherst bench jumped for joy when Cole Waugh tied the game at 17:19
In the last few minutes the teams shared scoring opportunities, but it was the Senators Noah Rowe scored an unassisted goal at 19:59 to give the Senators the win.
Many in the stands and on the ice thought the buzzer had gone before the winning goal crossed the goal line, but after conferring the on-ice officials called it a good goal and the Ottawa Senators celebrated their victory. The Players of the Game were Darcy Walsh of the Senators and Corey Fox of the Ramblers
The Senators' win gives them a birth in the Fred Page Cup final against the Princeville Titans today, May 5. Their previous match in the round-robin portion of the tournament saw the Titans eke out a 4-3 win in overtime. Today's match at the Amherst Stadium begins at 4 p.m.
