Middle School students learned tips on how to use the internet and social media responsibly on Nov. 3 during a presentation by Rensselaer County Probation Officers Christine Miner and Kate Rose.
Ms. Miner and Ms. Rose explained that they visit schools as a preventative step to help students understand the consequences of actions such as cyberbullying and posting inappropriate photos. They also shared how students can protect themselves from online predators.
Ms. Rose noted one of the best tips to remember is to tell your parents if they have a concern.
"Let them know if you're concerned about something. We're here to help," she said. "The internet and social media can be very good thing if you use it responsibly and learn how to protect yourself online."
