Principal's Post
1.15 - Happy New Year! We have really hit the ground running in 2019, focusing in on the Habits of Mind. As a school, we have decided to focus on four specific habits for one week at a time. We will be focusing on Persisting, Managing Impulsivity, Striving for Accuracy and Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations. During the school day, we will be looking to highlight authentic examples of these habits. Feel free to look for these habits being demonstrated at home and to have conversations about their importance. We work diligently to teach academic content, but also strive to instill these habits as they will apply to all different facets of life. Check back for child-friendly definitions for each week's focus.
I would be remiss if I did not thank all the parents that demonstrated such kindness and generosity this holiday season. Whether you shared kind words, gifts or your time, we were really able to make this season a special one for all of our students and staff. Thank you.

This Week's Habit - Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations
Look Fors at Home:
- Connecting ideas when completing homework or with assignments that were done at school.
- Making connections to previous situations with friends or siblings.
- Building upon foundational skills at practices or other extracurricular activities.
- Any activity where your child can take information they already have and make connections to new ideas or situations.
Keep an eye out for evidence of this habit being demonstrated at home. Identifying when you see it and situations when it could be applied will help your child understand it's importance. We look forward to a continued partnership on this Habits of Mind journey.

Kindergarten Sign-up - Help us spread the word!
Help us spread the word!!
It is now time to start thinking about Kindergarten for the 2019-20 School Year
If you have, or know of someone who has, a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1st, 2019, please call our school office to set up an appointment to register for Kindergarten at 610-942-8950. Appointments are available at Springton Manor from Monday, February 25th through Friday, March 1st. If these dates do not work for your schedule, no worry, you can set up an appointment at Central Office.
Knowing how many kindergarten students will be enrolled early helps us greatly in planning staff for the coming year. So don’t delay, call TODAY!
Cold Weather
With the temperatures dropping, make sure your child is appropriately dressed for the weather. We will continue to have outdoor recess unless the real-feel temperature drops below 25 degrees. Hats, mittens and jackets are an excellent idea for the chilly days ahead.
Educational/Family Trips
If you know that you will be submitting a request for your child to partake in an educational trip, please remember these key points from our District Policy:
- Requests should be made at least three days prior to the trip
- Ten days is the limit per school year (unless otherwise approved by the principal)
- Please, please, please....list any and all educational values of the trip
While these do not cover all of the factors that go into considering approval for a trip, these are the first components that I review. Please click the link below to see the extensive list.
