The Hobbit Author:J.R.R. Tolkien

This story takes place in J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy world of Middle Earth. Its pretty much like our Earth, except there are Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, and plenty of other mythical and magical things. This story starts off in a quaint little land called the Shire with is inhabited with little men know as Hobbits. A Hobbit is only about 3-4 foot tall and are quite a peaceful race.

One ordinary day the main character, Bilbo Baggins, is out smoking his pipe when all of a sudden a man appears. He is an old man known as Gandalf, "The Wandering Wizard", who is looking for someone to share in an adventure with.

Bilbo goes on this adventure accompanied by thirteen dwarves, (Thorin, Balin, Dwallin, Fili, Kili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur) and Gandalf to go slay a dragon and reclaim there mountain. Bilbo changes over the course of the first he is deadly afraid and wants to go home, but by the end he is very glad that he went on this journey.

They come across many hardships, such as the Goblins that want to kill them,

Getting stuck in the goblin caves,

A mysterious creature named Gollum, who is actually a big part of this story and the others that follow,

some pretty bad elves, and some more bad that they come across.

The very first time i read this book I was in awe of just how good it was. I've read this book probably eight times now, but each time i read it I'm still just surprised of how good of a book this was. I never get bored while re-reading this book or any of the other books that Tolkien made before his death.
