Ballet Folklorico at St. Edward's University prepares to take the stage at the College Assistance Migrant Program's (CAMP) 45th Anniversary Celebration during Homecoming on Feb. 18.
Natalia Ramos (left), Alumna, and Camila Munoz (right), senior, take the stage before diving into a colorful and fast-paced dance.
Ramos and Munoz perform a classic folkloric dance known as "Jalisco." Characterized by colorful dresses and big twirls, Jalisco is one of the most popular routines.
Ramos still participates in Ballet Folklorico shows even after graduating in May 2016 from St. Edward's. "I began dancing Folklorico my freshman year at St. Ed's," she says, "but I've been dancing since I was three."
