Child labor first started in the late 1700's. At that time children did jobs such as spinners, doffers and, sweepers.

Child labor is not only a problem in the U.S.A. It occurs all over the world 53% of child labor occurs in Asia and the Pacific.

Child labor has declined from 246 million to 168 million children. 85 million of those kids are in hazardous work. Which means more than half of the children working today are doing work that can get them very sick or possibly kill them. Having children under the age of 16 may be considered child labor. FLSA sets 14 years of age as the minimum age for having someone work but being 14 years of age there are set hours you are allow to work.

Charles John Huffam Dickens also known as just Charles Dickens was againgst child laobr. He dedicated his life to wrting and being an author. Charles wrote about one specific charter in his book oliver twist this charter was based on him self. Charles was a victim of child labor and he wrote base on his life.
