Primland, a 12,000-acre resort of pristine natural beauty in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southern Virginia, is a shooting sports paradise for those who seek a unique and private hunting experience. Our vast and varied terrain is rich with well-managed wildlife, and guided hunts are available 7 days a week from September to April.

An Orvis-endorsed Wingshooting Lodge since 1990, pheasant hunting is a specialty here and bob white quail and chukar provide additional shooting opportunities for our guests. Wingshooting is conducted in extensively managed habitat including small grains and warm season grasses. Early release methods ensure an abundance of hard flushing, flighty birds.

In addition to Upland Shoots, Primland hosts Driven and European Style Shoots that are comparable to the best in the UK. From the high ridges and deep valleys of our countryside, pheasant appear high in the air. Peg dates available, or guests are welcome to bring their own gun line.

Spring gobbler and whitetail deer hunting are also both big attractions. As you trek through the rugged Blue Ridge in search of game with a seasoned Primland guide, you’ll experience the exhilaration of fair chase hunting at its best.

The six-mile stretch of the scenic Dan River that lies adjacent to Primland is rugged, remote and home to beautiful wild brown, brook, and rainbow trout. Guided fly-fishing with our Orvis-trained experts is offered on a catch and release basis only.

Esquire magazine has named Primland’s sporting clays facility one of the top 25 courses in the nation. In addition to sporting clays, shooters can hone their skills on clay target games including 5-stand, Parcour and Make-A-Break.

The Lodge at Primland offers 26 refined guestrooms and suites. You may also choose accommodations in the Fairway Cottages featuring cathedral ceilings, stone fireplaces, and private decks with stunning views. Or stay in one of Primland’s 11 secluded Mountain Homes, each with an air of tranquility in a gorgeous setting. Coming in Spring 2015 are four new Pinnacle Cottages, each featuring four guest rooms with spacious decks overlooking the mountain landscape.

For additional recreational opportunities, Primland invites you to try our nature-inspired Spa or play the acclaimed Highland Course. Explore the Blue Ridge Mountains on foot, mountain bike, horseback, or an ATV. Primland also has an Observatory Dome to study the stars and planets above the vast, clear sky.
