Women's Ice Hockey Germany 2018

Day 1: Travel Day

The Mustangs flew from Dulles International Airport to Frankfurt before a second short flight to Munich.

Day 2: Arrive in Germany!

Freshmen Ana Holzbach and Tea Ferrara along with senior Maddy Ricci get their first franks while waiting for the flight to Munich!
Welcome home! The Mustangs stayed in Schwangau (picture right) during their stay. The Bavarian town of Fussen (left) was the local town, just a mile from the team's home base.

Day 3: Explore Fussen

The Mustangs would walk to the bus stop every morning to catch a bus into the town of Fussen.
The Mustangs practiced at the National Training Center for Hockey in Fussen, also the site of two of their games. The team was sure to snap plenty of photos on the ice before practice!

Day 4: Visit Dachau & Munich

A humbling experience visiting the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. The gate at the entrance says, "work will set you free".
Welcome to Munich! The Mustangs briefly explored Munich before visiting the city's Christmas market (left). The team later played its first game just 20 minutes from the heart of the city.
The Mustangs took on ESC Planegg Penguins in their first game. The Penguins have won six of the last eight German championships.

Day 5: Tour Neuschwanstein Castle

The Mustangs toured Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria, intended as a summer home for the King.
A must stop for fried dough balls after climbing the hill to the top of the castle!
Game number two versus ECDC Memmingen, the European Women's Hockey League defending champion.

Day 6: Italy

The team drove through Austria on the way to Italy, the site of game number three.
The Mustangs first stop was Vipiteno/Sterzing in Northern Italy to visit the local Christmas market.

Day 7: Free Day in Fussen

The Mustangs had a free day to explore the area of Fussen and Schwangau.

The team wore Ugly Christmas Sweaters to dinner and even competed in a singing competition!

Day 8: Ski Day

The team took a gondola up Tegelberg Mountain before hitting the slopes.
Some Mustangs brave the cold and wind to get a picture at over 5,500 feet.

The Mustangs had the option to go ski, snowboard or pictured above, sled.

Day 9: Game Day in Fussen

The Mustangs closed out the trip with a win right in Fussen!
