Facts of Angel Island Timeline

1882 Chinese exclusion act passed by congress and signed by Peresident Chester A. Arthur. It was the first act that reduced immigration to the country on large scale solely on the basis of nationality or race.
1892 Geary act.The Geary Act was a United States law that extended the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 by adding onerous new requirements. It was written by California Congressman Thomas J. Geary and was passed by Congress on May 5, 1892.
1910-1940 People made Angel Island to detain the immigrants from Asia. Most immigrants were inspected, except for 1st and 2nd class immigrants. Also if one person of a family lived in America, they could come in easily too.
1940 A fire destroyed the angel island Adminstration building .
