ABOUT

What is Copernicus

The European satellite system Copernicus is the most ambitious Earth observation satellite programme to date. It consists of a fleet of satellites, which provides accurate, timely and easily accessible information services, which are provided freely and openly accessible to its users. Copernicus looks at our planet and its environment for the ultimate benefit of all European citizens. Thanks to a variety of technologies, from satellites in space to measurement systems on the ground, in the sea and in the air, Copernicus delivers operational data and information services openly and freely in a wide range of application areas.

What is HACK4SEA

How does it work

The hackathon is an intense event where participants from a diverse range of backgrounds and with expertise in a variety of fields collaborate in small teams over the course of the week-end. The teams will then work on developing prototypes and POCs of new software/solutions, using open data from the Copernicus programme and other local data.

Ultimately, the Copernicus Hackathon will conclude with one or more projects (be they business ideas or collaborative projects), developed over the two days. These will then be awarded and further supported by the chief organising partners.

What if I’m not a space scientist?

Don’t worry! Come as you are! You just need to be enthusiastic and passionate. You will be supported by experienced data experts and business coaches that are eager to share their knowledge and ideas with you. By the way, did you know, that multidisciplinary teams usually create the best solutions?
