The Program Overview
Eligibility. Children in grades 3-8 in the Memphis Metro area, with a focus on the underserved communities in North and South Memphis . Students learn basic running drills and track events, from the long jump to the hurdles to the 100-meter dash. Experienced coaches lend their expertise and guide the student-athletes in learning the basics and challenging themselves to excel.
Schedule. Campers will meet 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning in June and ending in late August.
Locations. The program will operate out of sites in North Memphis, South Memphis, & East Memphis. Through our partnership with the Memphis City Parks, we will utilize beautiful spaces such as Davy Crockett, Martin Luther King Park/River Links Golf Course, etc.
Supplements. In addition to learning the basics of Track & Field, student-athletes will be exposed to a learning adventure that will combine math, reading, nutrition, character development, and extracurriculars. This will be supported by community partners such as U of M College of Health Science, Tiger Bites Nutrition, and the Memphis City Parks.
Events. In addition to the weekly meetings, there will be 2 - 3 events for the kiddos to show off their progress & skills!
