UC DAVIS WINS OVERTIME THRILLER VS. LONG BEACH, 75-71

Down by four with 2:20 left in regulation in Saturday’s ESPNU national broadcast, layups from Brynton Lemar and Darius Graham, scored on consecutive possessions, tied the game at 62 with 77 seconds still left to play. With the last possession in UC Davis’ hand, a packed Pavilion erupted when Chima Moneke’s tip-in beat the buzzer and snapped a 66-66 score. However, following a lengthy delay to check that possession on video replay, the evidence on the screen proved otherwise, which led to another overtime game involving the Aggies and 49ers.

In that extra period, UC Davis connected on two of its four field goal attempts, nailed all four of its shots at the stripe, and forced the 49ers to connect on only one of their seven shots to collect a 75-71 win.

UC Davis now has an opportunity to record another perfect home record, the second in the last three seasons, when Hawai’i visits Hamilton Court for Thursday’s 7 p.m. home finale. The Aggies will enter that Senior Night matchup with an 18-11 overall and 10-4 Big West record.
