Hope for the world A year of God's faithfulness

Hello everyone!

This week, we celebrated the one year anniversary of our coming to Thailand! It really is humbling to thing about all that God has done in my life and ministry these past couple years. From providing full financial support to safely getting us to Thailand to saving the souls of SIX Thai students this year, God has been perfectly faithful in every way and truly done more than I could have imagined. I'm so thankful to be serving here in Chiang Mai and I hope you're encouraged by what God is doing here!

We returned from our time in America to join forces with students from Australian universities (pictured here). The Cross Cultural Project (CCP) came for 4 weeks to gain ministry experience and add energy to our ministry. They were eager to share the gospel and worked tirelessly to engage with students, even connecting some new people to our ministry!

We try to maximize time with CCPs because students love to meet foreign students their own age and learn about their culture. We had weekly parties, English nights, traveled to ride elephants and saw waterfalls. These were huge momentum builders and helped the Australian students learn what ministry looks like on a Thai campus. Pray for the students they impacted while they were here and pray that the Aussies would go back to their campuses with a new passion for God!

Thank you for praying for deepened relationships with students. I've seen trust begin to build with several of the guys I met last year and have been able to initiate deeper conversations with many of them. Continue to pray for the salvation of Tak, Maay, Aek, Max and Up. These guys have heard the gospel several times now and I'm hoping we can move towards a small group discussion after midterms to talk about biblical topics like love, manhood and how to be a good friend!

For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. - 1 Cor 2:2

Film is a freshman engineering student. He's one of the funnest guys you'll meet, likes to play rugby, is head of the freshman class (has major influence) and went to a Christian high school. Pray that I would get opportunities to hang out with Film and go deeper with him.

Aek is a sophomore engineer from Southern Thailand. He's now heard the gospel a few times and is willing to read the bible with me to hear more. Where he comes from, there are Buddhists, Muslims, and some Christians - he said he doesn't know what to believe. Pray for God to work in his heart and that he would understand the gospel. Also pray that our plan to read the bible together actually happens!

Meet your new brother in Christ! Aun has been meeting with Dan and I to read the bible for about three weeks now and we're talking about things like love and prayer from the bible. Pray that he would flourish in his new faith, have a hunger for God's Word and grow in love for others. Maybe you can memorize Philippians 4:6-7 along with us, (in Thai) just for fun!

Earth is studying abroad in Malaysia this semester (until June). Pray that despite being separated from CO,his only Christian friends, he will continue to pursue Christ and that God would bless him.

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. - 2 Corinthians 4:6

Khon Kaen University

Meet our brothers and sisters in Khon Kaen, Thailand. CO Chiang Mai was born out of the ministry in KK. God has been raising up Christian laborers in Khon Kaen for almost 20 years now! This year alone, 2 guys and 6 girls have made professions of faith and begun following Jesus at KKU!

Praises & Prayer Requests

Praises

  • Several students have begun studying the bible with our staff people this year!
  • Aun's salvation as well as many gospel conversations with students this semester.
  • While the details are still being finalized, our visa should be taken care of. We will be studying at a local language school and are applying for student visas.
  • My support needs were met since my last update! That's around $300/month that God has provided.
  • My knee is recovering well from surgery.

Prayer

  • Pray for favor and quality time with students. The school keeps them so busy, it's often hard to get time with them.
  • Pray that our discussion group will be fruitful, thought provoking and that students would come.
  • Pray for the staff and new believers at Khon Kaen University. Pray that God would grow them in faith, love and hope in Jesus Christ while living as witnesses among a buddhist culture.
  • Team unity, trust and gospel centeredness - Ephesians 4:1-6. For me in particular, pray that I would grow in humility, vulnerability and trust.

Again, I sincerely hope you are encouraged by what God is doing in Thailand. I'm thankful for you, my prayer partners, supporters, friends and family. What a vital part of this whole thing you are! If there is any way I can be praying for you or if you ever have any questions, please let me know. Thanks again!

Love, Austin
