Frank Huang All About me

Some General Info About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Frank and I am currently attending my second year at High School. I have a twin sister, as well as a pet cat and a goldfish (ironic, right?) Although I am of Chinese descent, I was originally born in Dublin, Ireland and raised there for four years before immigrating here. Although Dublin is a very small city, it is full of energy and life. The streets are always crammed with friendly faces, yet the people there are not shy at all. They will gladly have a conversation with you if you wish. If you want to know more about my hobbies and interests, scroll down!

Movies and Books

There are a variety of movies and books that I enjoy, but recently, I've been really into "Ink Positive," a journal created by Bliss Toronto, which is a student-run Junior Achievement Company. Their goal is to ultimately uplift the community by providing a source of positivity. These journals offer an outlet for stress and anxiety by providing the reader with coloring pages, thinking prompts, fun activities, and even recipes! Overall, it is a great product for a High School student looking to relieve their nerves and anxiety. And did I mention? 15% of all proceeds go to Healthy Minds Canada, which shows the group's dedication in serving the community and offering Corporate Social Responsibility. Many of my friends work at Bliss Toronto, and they are highly dedicated and satisfied members. If you want to learn more about this fabulous company, click below. Or click here to buy now!

Ink Positive in the Daily Life

In addition to my favourite book, one of my favourite animated movies is the Oscar Winning Zootopia. Set in a world where anthromorphic animals peacefully coexist, this film is regarded by many as the pinnacle of Disney's second Golden Age. Not only does the movie feature incredible feats of computer animation, but also conveys the hidden message of courage and acceptance behind its fast-paced, witty plot line. This movie is now the 5th all-time top grossing animated movie, becoming a worldwide phenomenon. Best of all, the movie suits people of all ages, groups, and genders, since that is what the plot is initially trying to convey. Part of the reason why I chose communication technology this year is to learn more about these types of graphics and designs.

My favorite major motion picture at the moment is Hugo (2009). Rarely are there films that surpass their novel adaptations, but Hugo has masterfully executed that. It tells the story of a young orphan, Hugo Cabret, who lives within a giant clock tower in Paris, France. Set in the 1930's, this film evokes a highly nostalgic and romantic feeling, which is accentuated through the beautiful cinematography and music. Nominated for 11 academy awards, including best picture, Hugo has won 5 of them, along with a slew of other notable accolades.

Sports and Hobbies

I have a variety of hobbies, including reading, playing with my Rubix Cube, and making short films. I'm also very into graphic design, coding, and especially photography. Whether it is shot on my iPhone or my big bulky DSLR, photography allows me to go out and find something new everyday. Below is a gallery of my favorite works, some which have even won awards.

Aside from shooting photos, I also immerse myself in multiple co-curricular and extracurricular activities. At school, I am part of the Science Council, the FACES committee, the Education 4 Less committee, DECA, HOSA, the Leader's Collective, as well as the Robotics Club. Although I do not know which industry I want to go into, the profound guidance of Careers Class has made me realize that Business, History, and Communications Technology are some possible career paths in the future, since they are my highest-scoring subjects. Outside of school, I also take Accounting and Psychology courses, and play the piano. Currently, I have passed the RCM Grade 10 exam and is eligible to into ARCT.

Although my involvement in sports is not as profound as my co-curricular and extracurricular activities, there are a variety of sports I enjoy. For example, I thoroughly enjoy table tennis, swimming, biking, badminton, and cross country running. Because I am not interested in winning, I usually do not play sports at a competitive level. Nevertheless, it offers me exercise, stress relief, and happiness :)
