Visual Schedule:

-Give times and visuals: provide personal schedule that includes routines that vary by day

Introduction to School

Give a personal walking tour

Prepare class ahead of time (be respectful and friendly)

Provide the student with a map of the school in their native language

Prepare advisory committee (Principal, Vice Principal, Counselor)

Partner the student with a buddy/mentor in the classroom that can be of assistance throughout the day

Rules, Routines, and Expectations:

Providing visual schedules, and regularly modeling and coaching routines

Sending letters and communication to the family in both English and Spanish (or ask the family what their preferred method of communication is)

Provide considerable positive feedback, and uphold high expectations
