Mr. Mitsu Shah Diverse Learner Specialist

I am excited about having the opportunity to work at Federico Garcia Lorca Elementary. I have been teaching for 10 years. This is the 4th school I've taught at, and my second school within CPS. Before Lorca I was a diverse learner specialist at Edgebrook Elementary. I received my bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University in Elementary Education along with 3 middle school teaching endorsements in social science, language arts, and science. After beginning my career, I went back to school to earn my master's degree as a learning and behavior specialist from Northeastern Illinois University.

Being a diverse learner specialist allows me to teach multiple subjects. Mathematics is my favorite subject to teach, but I believe classes such as social studies are equally as important to learn about. It is imperative for students to be informed about the world around them so one day they can grow up to be strong, independent, and informed goal oriented citizens.

Communication is very important. Parents should feel apart of their child's education and success from beginning to end. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have so we can work together on positive solution that supports a student's education in the best possible way. My email is Myshah@cps.edu
