First Hands on Leica M10 - Wetzlar 2017
With more compact dimensions, improved performance and new ISO dial on the Cap, it offers what M Photographers want from a M camera.
Since the Leica M3 was introduced at photokina in 1954, every M system camera defines the State of the technically feasible, under the premise of the photographically meaningful in their time. Today, Leica embodies this commitment to quality, craftsmanship and the philosophy of photography.
Over 60 years of measuring viewfinder experience, 11 years developing digital M cameras and valuable feedback of dedicated M photographers engineers to the leanest digital M of all time have inspired the Leica: the Leica M10.
I had the first contact with the Leica M10 at an event in the Leica headquarters in Wetzlar.
Many photographers will appreciate the dimensions of analog M models due to their ergonomics and its wearing comfort. The Leica M10 corresponds exactly to the masses.

FOR ME, ESPECIALLY THE QUESTION AROSE, Is it WORTH To UPGRADE FROM THE M 240 ON THE M10.
Leica some priorities in the foreground - the sleek slim housing design. The WIFI capability and the extremely high ISO range and of course the new sensor - image processor combination. The resolution remains the same, which certainly makes sense from my point of view, because otherwise the uniformity of the entire M system would be compromised.
All Pictures are shoot in DNG in the exposure mode A (aperture priority), with WB automatic by Eric Berger in Auto ISO - developed in Adobe RAW converter.
The range of ISO values has been extended with the Leica M10 thanks to the new sensor design. It allows recordings with ISO from 100 to 50.000.
To test the high ISO ranges, a meaningful subject must be found first, with a reasonable motive contrast. In the wonderful Cathedral of the capital of Mallorca, hardly more like 3200 ISO were necessary, which were dealt with well by the 240 M.
Classic night shots have high contrast mostly with existing individual light sources. In landscape photography, it is more effective to use a tripod. Even in the street photography in the evening I managed no need 25000 ISO, because I prefer an open aperture anyway.
The Leica M10 Maestro II image processor features technology of the latest generation with her Leica. Together with the new 24 MP sensor recordings that meet the requirement of Leica arise: shots of exceptionally brilliant image quality.

FOR ME, THE MOST OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE TO THE M240 THE SIGNIFICANTLY FASTER PROCESSING TIME AFTER TRIGGERING, AND THUS THE "REAL" FAST IMAGE SEQUENCE TIME. AT FIRST GLANCE AN ARGUMENT, WHICH IS AN EXTREME HIGH "MUST HAVE" DESIRE!
DO NOT FORGET TO AN EXTRA BATTERY!
A desire, which, on the second day of the test, quickly a little bit was marred. I had a flat battery after approximately 290 pictures. I simply had not thought of, that I should charge the battery over night. A fact I was not so used by the M240. Of course this resolve by purchasing a second battery.
The heart of the Leica M10 is the full format CMOS sensor with 24 Megapixels. Its new technology leads to a significant improvement of all image-related performance parameters: an impressive dynamic range, excellent contrast, superior sharpness and accuracy of detail
I had become familiar with also only about 10 minutes long function enabled me with the very cool possibilities of the controllability of the camera via SmartPhone WIFI. All important camera functions (except of course the focus) can thus be controlled.

The Leica M10 is the first M camera with built-in Wi-Fi module. About images can be easily and wirelessly on iOS devices transmit and share in social networks. I think that the sensor in the Leica SL in the new M10 is installed. This, or for me, makes a further evolved here absolutely good accurate work.
The viewfinder was also improved and the Focusierhilfe via life view (zoom to preset 5 times or 10 enlargement) can be placed off-center now also via the arrow buttons on the back
Thanks to Gorilla® glass blocks of brass, an all-metal body made of high-strength magnesium alloy and scratch-resistant Corning®. In addition, special rubber seals protect against light rain, dust and weather.
The camera is simply great fun, with a usual Leica precision and professionalism in daily practice.
THE FAVORITES MENU
The importance of individual settings varies depending on the preference and application area when shooting. Therefore, the Leica M10 offers a customizable Favorites menu. Moreover, the photographer sets the personally relevant functions button on it for quick access to. Of course, the settings can be changed at any time and adapted to photographic situations.
No Video!
I'm primarily a photographer, that's why I can deal with the fact that the M10 offers no way to record videos, although I did use lately with the M240, more and more of them.
SumMARY: WITH THE M10 LEICA SUCCEEDED ONCE MORE A GREAT CAMERA, WHICH IS NOW LIGHTER AND SLIMMER THAN PREVIOUS MODELS. ABOVE ALL, THE SPEED OF THE CAMERA POWER REAL JOY.
ALSO THE WIFI FUNCTION IS COOL. THE SHORT OPERATING TIME WITH THE BUILT-IN RECHARGEABLE BATTERY, HOWEVER, CLOUDS THIS FUN A LITTLE.
