TIPILIUKE LODGE Neuquén, Argentina

Fly fishing is what put Tipiliuke on the map more than 20 years ago. Considered by many to be one of the worlds’ top fly fishing destinations, Tipiliuke, in Northern Patagonia, is home to more than 17 miles of the finest trout waters on the planet (including 9 miles of the well-known Chimehuín river). Our guides are the best in the business and can be found at hot spots all over the world after our local season closes. Tipiliuke was the recipient of the prestigious Sporting Classics Award of Excellence as the world’s top fishing lodge for 2011 and Lodge of the Year by Anglers Choice Awards in 2014.

Our fishing season runs from early November through May. A typical day of fishing begins with a made to order breakfast before heading to the river around 9:30 AM. Clients dress in our wading room at the lodge before driving between 3 to 15 minutes to their selected beat for the morning. We have two very different, but equally impressive rivers, the Chimehuín and Quilquihue, running through the heart of our 50, 000 acres, known worldwide for their crystal clear waters and legendary fishing. In addition we have 3 miles of private spring creek constructed by one of the U.S. leading firms for the exclusive use of our guests. While the vast majority of our fish are caught on dry flies, we will occasionally use a “dropper” in conjunction with the dries. Clients return to the lodge around 2:30 PM for a delicious lunch, usually served "al fresco" under the shade of 100 year old trees. All meals are paired with the finest Argentine wines.

“ Always wonderful, always fresh and calming. It´s a wonderful thing you do.And it gets better with every visit. More fish than any place in my life! ” Steve Bush – Sonoma, CA, January, 2017

In the afternoon clients usually return to the river around 6:00 PM, depending on the time of year, and fish until dusk. It is during the last 30 minutes of light that we may use a large streamer to coax out one of the monster browns the Chimehuín is famous for. While our typical fish would average 14-20 inches, each season we catch monster browns approaching the 30 inch mark. For the more adventurous, we can also offer fishing on the upper and lower Chimehuín from one of our custom drift boats. After a great day on the water, clients return to the lodge for cocktails, a dinner consisting of refined authentic regional cuisine, all within the confines of one of Argentina’s finest lodges in Patagonia.
