After last year’s International work with #HomelandsHeroes, we’re continuing our programme by working with
40 emerging Moroccan musicians on POP UP STUDIO by delivering sessions in Safi and Khouribga this March.
Pop Up Studio is a hands-on ‘bootcamp` programme for young, semi-professional musicians in the southern cities of Morocco, supported by The British Council and Office Chérifien des Phosphates Foundation and will focus on 4 key areas of the Music Industry: Music Production, Songwriting, Hip Hop Composition and Marketing & PR.
To continue the incredible Pop Up Studio work of the last 2 years, we’ve brought together 4 industry specialists that have performed on some of the largest stages, worked with the biggest names in the industry and on some of the most exciting projects in the Music Industry to date: Dionne Reid (Singer-Songwriter) Incisive (Rapper) Michael Seary (Music Producer, Songwriter, Engineer) and Yaw Owusu (NBTM / The PMG)
Dionne Reid – Singer-Songwriter
Dionne Reid is a charismatic singer songwriter from south London. Her sweet sounding, laid back vocals fused with fantastic energy makes her one not to miss live. Dionne’s music is a refreshing fusion of contemporary soul and reggae. Her musical influences include the likes of Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley.
Incisive – Live Performance
Penetrating, clear, sharp, direct, forceful… These are all words that you will find in the dictionary next to the word ‘Incisive’. The gifted and vibrant, west London, by way of Ladbroke Grove, emcee is intent on setting the British music scene a blaze with his blend of witty positive lyrics, cool as ice flow and fresh-to-death production. As an artist Incisive is well respected and has had the opportunity of working with some of best including artists such as Shakka, Sway, Donae’o, Terri Walker and most famously Julian Marley (Son Of Bob Marley) to name but a few.
Michael Seary – Music Production
Michael was selected as one of the best emerging talent in Liverpool – a city world-reknowned for its musical pedigree.
From that time he went on to work with Grammy award-winning producer Steve Levine, perform to audiences of over 10,000 and orchestrate a number of high-level musical collaborations, including works for the BBC.
Yaw Owusu – Marketing & PR
Yaw has worked with a number of world leading brands, organisations and artists including Nike, AEG, Sony, Universal Records, MOBO, The Fader, AATW, BET, BBC Radio 1Xtra, MTV, Dizzee Rascal, Damian Marley and many more. In addition, Yaw has A&R’d and released a number of singles and projects that have earned acclaim, major syncs and national and international radio support.
