Summer Fairy Door Hunt Family activity in Watling Woods

Leadgate Task Force - A Force for change

Over the School summer holidays Leadgate Task Force ran a Fairy Door Hunt in Watling Woods, aimed at families with young children, and only publicised in the Primary Schools in Leadgate, the Event ran from 19th July to 29th August.

One of our Fairy Doors

The day before the start of the school holidays, 40 Fairy Doors were hidden in Watling Woods and flyers were handed out to the pupils of Leadgate Primary and Brooms Schools.

There for all to find!

Children were asked to bring an adult family member and spend some time in the woods searching for the doors which they could keep as a momento of the day.

At least one of the doors had a special prize, they had a telephone number that their family could ring to claim. Over the course of the Summer two were claimed and the lucky winners were given a "goody bag" containing a Voucher for a Family Ticket to Jumbo Jungle ( kindly donated by Andrew Greener) and a number of other items such as books and toys.

Our Winners

The first to claim was Emmie Convery, she and her grandmother went on the hunt and found a prize door.

The second claim was from the Grey family who enjoyed a great day in the woods

The Family and their winning Fairy Door

The feedback from this activity was very positive, lots saying how good it was getting into the woods, even one from a Leadgate resident who lived here before the woods were planted, saying that it was the first time he had ever been in!
