BIH CLIENT COMPANY DEVELOPS YOUTH IN AGRICULTURE

Botswana Innovation Hub client company Kalahari Honey (Chabana Farms) in collaboration with The Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP), recently conducted a two-day Youth Dialogue workshop in order to create a platform for young players in the Agricultural sector to dialogue on National Agricultural Implementation Plan.

Officially kick starting the workshop was Honourable Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Dr Edwin G. Dikoloti

The African Union (AU) established the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) as a strategy which aims to achieve agriculture-based growth and food security on the continent.

The program promotes Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) to strengthen productive agricultural sector across the African Continent.

CONNECTING VENTURE CAPITALIST NETWORK WITH BOTSWANA ENTREPRENEURS

The Africa platform for startup funding, VC4A (Venture Capital for Africa) is a fast-growing community of business professionals in 159 countries dedicated to building game changing companies on the continent. Botswana Innovation Hub in partnership with VC4A (Venture Capital for Africa) recently hosted the first mentor bootcamp for BIH client companies.

The purpose of the bootcamp was to set up Mentor Networks & Matchmaking Mentors & Mentees under “Capacity Building for SAIS 2 Innovation Fund Grantees”. This is a first of many bootcamps to come in developing the mentor and entrepreneur relationship within Botswana and adding to the Venture Capital for Africa network.

The Africa platform for startup funding, VC4A (Venture Capital for Africa gives access to free online tools, mentorship opportunities and the ability to raise capital. VC4A strengthens the global startup community by connecting entrepreneurs, creating innovative and scalable businesses and providing access to networks and funding they require to succeed.

In collaboration with a growing network of partners, the VC4A community of entrepreneurs, mentors and investors are central to bolstering the entrepreneurial ecosystem globally and offers a direct channel for anyone serious about being part of the next great success story.

TRANSFORMING BOTSWANA INTO A KNOWLEDGE BASED ECONOMY PUBLIC LECTURE

Botswana Innovation Hub continues to give Batswana youth opportunities to learn, receive mentorship and coaching in order to sharpen their business acumen skills. BIH hosts bi-weekly coffee sessions where business mentors share their experiences.

Start off the year on a high note, BIH coordinated a public lecture with Stellenbosch University's Dr. Johann Kinghorn on the topic “Transforming Botswana Into A Knowledge Based Economy”.

“You need to always think outside the box, discussing and finding solutions to daily challenges will assist in stepping forward into truly transforming into a knowledge-based economy” said Kinghorn.

BIH PARTNERS WITH NGWANA ENTERPRISES

Botswana Innovation Hub in collaboration with NGWANA ENTERPRISES & Botho University, hosted 50+ Innovators for a Tech Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Francistown.

BOTSWANA - AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER VISITS BIH

Before she took on her new role as Botswana’s High Commissioner Designate to Australia, Her Excellency Dorcas Kobela Makgato visited the Botswana Innovation Hub in a mission to engage with the Hub’s Management to understand the opportunities that the Hub is seeking from the Australian region.

Her Excellency plans to unlock collaborations and partnership opportunities between Batswana residing in Australia and the Botswana’s local innovation ecosystem. Botswana and Australia have a common focus on sectors such as Mining and Agriculture hence the two can collaborate, learn and benefit from one another.

BIH Hosts Its Minister

The Minister of The Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Botswana, Hon. Dr. Douglas Letsholathebe toured the Botswana Innovation Hub to receive a briefing on the operations of the Hub in order to ensure maximum alignment to Government strategic priorities.
