Qualifications for McCormick Teacher Residency Program (MTRP) Resident Candidates. Applicants interested in becoming a part of the MTR program must: Possess an undergraduate or graduate degree in elementary, middle or secondary education, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (and not certified) or be working on a degree in a teacher education program and have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Desire to make a difference in the lives of all children through teaching.

Demonstrate a commitment to learning about and working with students from rural settings with various academic and social-emotional needs.

Demonstrate a commitment to working collaboratively with others to strengthen and enhance the program.

Possess effective written and oral communication skills.

Commit to working in the district for a minimum of three years after the completion of the MTRP.
