Kalliope - US
Kalliope is an international pop artist. Born in Houston, Texas to a Greek immigrant father and Mormon raised mother from Provo, Utah; her story has been unique since birth. As a child, Kalli faced many traumatic obstacles leaving her feeling alienated from society and devoid of a stable home life. By necessity, this young woman was forced to mature much faster than her peers. Raised in a broken home with divorced parents, Kalli felt isolated, alone, and many times out of place; Kalli’s childhood was lived on the run. By her 18th birthday Kalli had moved 20 times and resided in 3 different countries. Desperately trying to find her own safe place to land, Kalli found her heart and soul firmly planted in music! For the first time, she was able to express her deep, intimate, and authentic emotions. Kalli found the the only home she ever knew, and through music, also found her purpose. Her hidden sadness was able to be expressed through her music and lyrics. Her songs became her home, and her residence was permanently established on the stage- the only place she ever felt she belonged. Kalli discovered this phenomenon at just five years of age; at the Theater Under the Stars in Houston, Texas. But the illusion of a stable life quickly vanished in 2003, when her father took her and her brother to Greece illegally- against American custodial orders. For two years Kalli lived in a foreign, yet strangely familiar land. Intuitively leaning on her music, Kalli sang more than ever and became quite the sensation in Greece and Europe. Known for her precocious vocals that many compared to a young Celine Dion, Kalli sang her heart out in international competitions including Eurovision Junior, where she represented Greece with an original song in 2005. In 2004 she sang a duet with world renowned tenor Mario Frangoulis for the finale of the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics in Athens, Greece.
As all of these amazing life changing experiences were happening in the limelight, Kalli was silently crushed by the tragedy of being separated from her beloved mother and the home she never knew. Hiding on the stage became her life as she lived the beautiful façade of her budding international success. Young Kalli would endure the loneliness of not seeing her mother for over three years. But with Kalli’s paradoxical life continuously unfolding, the drama continued as she experienced the joy of being reunited with her mother, while watching her father being arrested, handcuffed, and sentenced to a long prison term. Little did she know, this personal drama would produce a musical career of immense proportions!
As a young adult back in the United States, Kalli was forced to start all over; mentally, emotionally and of course musically. She worked with Paul Wasser of Gargoyle studios in Bethlehem, PA who mentored the young artist and taught her about the “business” of the music industry. Little did she know, this educational experience would prove to be very helpful throughout the following years. As her musical career developed, Kalli sang in local competitions to help her single mom as they struggled to get by financially. Kalli participated in and won many local singing competitions and even made it to the American Idol platform where she met some of her own idols who praised and mentored her. As she developed her American music career, Kalli sang the national anthem at the NBA and MLS games and continued to perform in music venues all over the country.
As a young woman Kalli’s difficult childhood finally caught up to her and she was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety at just 20 years old. For several years she had to fight through severe anxiety and feelings of hopelessness which propelled her even deeper into her music. But in her usual fashion, this courageous young woman was triumphant once again as she sought out proper treatment to help heal her heart. Kalli gained the tools to learn to cope with her depression, and it was through these dark times, that she wrote her greatest music; the songs that the world is about to hear! The fact that this little girl had gone through so much trauma in her life and not only survived, but triumphed, is nothing short of a miracle. Overcoming so much but always living by purpose, the adult Kalli, now makes music for a purpose; which is how her mission statement was born.
Changing her name to Kalliope, was the start of her music mission and deep desire to give a voice to the voiceless. Her debut single Lighthouse is a powerful anthem for letting go of the pains of the past and standing on your own two feet with pride, honor and integrity.
Kalliope’s unique sound is accompanied with a powerful 4 octave range and a unique tone that is reminiscent of the power vocalists of the past. Her voice in all of its pain and power, penetrates the ears and souls of her listeners. Kallopie’s voice reflects the drama of her true life story, but evolves into an intimate message of personal recovery and triumph. There will always be a purpose to her music and her first single Lighthouse, delivers haunting messages of domestic violence awareness. This message will be featured in her accompanying video of the same title. Kallie has firmly established her roots in a home called music. She will make music with a purpose to help those who are suffering. Her purpose is to give back through music and lyrics, and through her powerful and inspiring voice will give hope and inspiration to those suffering in silence. We all need each other; and there is no better way to communicate than through the power of music?
K: “We all need to be heard, seen and felt. I want to be my listeners muse- to inspire all people to be just as they are. My journey has been long and hard, but I have finally come home. If I can lead other's home through my music, my destiny has been fulfilled”.

During his 8 years of military service, Key Notes expresses the challenges of maintaining it all. IAmKeyNotes once said, “It’s always been hard, but it’s harder now. It was easier in the Guard since I had more freedom, but it’s just not as much flexibility on active duty, especially now as a Sergeant. I’m responsible for the well-being, safety, and accountability of other soldiers… for their training and for helping to mold them into leaders themselves. And also with having my own family now… But this is my dream, and I’m all in.”
