Pendleton Early Learning Center STRONG BEGINNINGS. BRIGHT FUTURES.

READ ACROSS AMERICA

In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, the teachers and students at the PELC had a community read-in on Friday, March 1st from 1:30-2:15 pm. We read in the rooms, in the hall, on the chairs-- we had a ball! A big thank-you to our families, friends and Sunridge Middle School Leadership students for sharing a love of reading and books with our kindergarteners! You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.

HAPPY 100th DAY!

What an extra-special day! We made 100 Day hats and badges, had 100 Day centers, ate 100 snacks, read stories about 100, counted to 100 by ones, tens and fives... and much more!

Thank-You

Pendleton Center for the Arts

A big thank-you to Roberta Lavadour and the Pendleton Center for the Arts! They spent two full days at the PELC, as they gave each classroom a copy of the book "Up, Down & Other Opposites" with Ellsworth Kelly (First Concepts With Fine Artists) and helped us with an awesome art project. After reading the book, our students looked at shapes that are all around us. They enjoyed cutting colorful vinyl shapes (donated by Master Printers) and making stickers that were applied to paper; a great introduction to abstract art. The Ellsworth Kelly exhibit opens at the Pendleton Center for the Arts on March 14 and runs through May 3.
