2016 Ginormous Pumpkin Regatta at Daybreak

The Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers tested the seaworthiness their giant pumpkins at the sixth annual Ginormous Pumpkin Regatta held at Daybreak's Oquirrh Lake on October 22nd. Pumpkins weighing between 500 and 1,500 pounds were converted into watercraft and raced across the freshwater lake. Growers began making preparations for the regatta months ago as they meticulously cared for their seedlings in anticipation of the event.

The 2016 Regatta attracted over 2,500 people to the North Shore of Oquirrh Lake!

After the Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers decided to move to a new location for 2016, LiveDAYBREAK seized the opportunity to bring the regatta to Daybreak's Oquirrh Lake.

The races weren't the only attraction to North Shore, as LiveDAYBREAK set up a mini-regatta race, craft activities, provided a DJ, and a held a live reading by Roni Daronche at the Daybreak Cottage.
